My Favorite Christmas Song

My favorite Christmas song is called "Christmas Shoes" by Newsong. The lyrics are below.

It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line.
Tryin' to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood.
Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously.
Pacing 'round like little boys do,
And in his hands he held a pair of shoes.

And his clothes were worn and old,
He was dirty from head to toe.
And when it came his time to pay,
I couldn't believe what I heard him say.

Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please.
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size.
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time.
You see she's been sick for quite a while,
And I know these shoes will make her smile.
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight.

He counted pennies for what seemed like years.
Then the cashier said, "Son, there's not enough here."
He searched his pockets frantically.
Then he turned and he looked at me.
He said Mama made Christmas good at our house,
Though most years she just did without.
Tell me Sir, what am I going to do,
Somehow I've got to buy her these Christmas shoes.

So I laid the money down, I just had to help him out.
And I'll never forget the look on his face when he said,
Mama's gonna look so great.

I knew I'd caught a glimpse of heaven's love.
As he thanked me and ran out.
I knew that God had sent that little boy,
To remind me, what Christmas is all about.

Sir I wanna buy these shoes for my Momma please.
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size.
Could you hurry Sir?
Daddy says there's not much time.
You see she's been sick for quite a while,
And I know these shoes will make her smile.
And I want her to look beautiful,
If Momma meets Jesus tonight.

I want her to look beautiful
If Momma meet's Jesus tonight.

It's FREEZING here!!!!

I am SO cold here. Definitely not used to this bitter cold Idaho weather. This morning it was 0 degrees outside but with windchill it was actually negative 15 (-15) degrees!!! I think that's ridiculous!!! Luckily I only have about 2 weeks left here and then I can go to the warm state of Washington...haha. I never thought I would ever say that!

Craigos Night!

So, before I came to Rexburg I hadn't even heard of Craigos...if you guys don't know what it is, it's a pizza place. So, I told my roommates that and they said that, at some point in the semester, we were going to have to go. So, last week we finally went as roommates. It was SO fun!!! We went around 6:30 or 6:45 because we had to wait for all of our roommates to get home. One of our roommates has a class until 6:15...CRAZY!! Anyways, we drove down there and all got the buffet. SO GOOD!!! It was actually pretty good pizza. But the funny part was when my roommates Amber and Cathryn went to get pizza. Me and Kenzie stayed behind and, without them knowing, we put salt in their drink and we switched their cups (just jokingly of course) but when they got back and tasted them they didn't notice anything weird. So...when they left again we did the same thing, except we put more in. This time they noticed and it was really funny. The faces they made were priceless (too bad I didn't take any pictures of that). We stayed at Craigos for like 2 hours and we just talked for most of the time. The people sitting next to us kept looking at us...they probably thought we were weird...but whatever. It was so much fun!! I don't think I've laughed that much in a long time.

Thanksgiving...SURPRISE

So for this Thanksgiving I totally wanted to surprise my mom by coming home for Thanksgiving. So, my dad and I tried everything. We looked at airplane tickets and train tickets and busses and everything we could possibly think of. Then, after awhile I gave up. I figured there was no way I was going to be able to get home for Thanksgiving. So...I bought a bus ticket to go down to Utah for Thanksgiving and I was set on that idea when I decided to try one more option. I emailed all of my friends from Washington that are up here at BYU-Idaho asking them if they were driving down to Washington for Thanksgiving. None of them were...then I tried the drivers board (or whatever it's called). It's this thing that BYU-Idaho has where people say if they can drive and, if you want a ride home, then you just ask them and you have a ride home. Unfortunately I didn't find a ride on there. Then, I realized that I didn't ask some of my facebook friends. So, I emailed all of my facebook friends and none of them were going home but....one of them had a suggestion. They told me that this guy that used to be in our ward in Everett, WA was going home for Thanksgiving and she thought that he was driving. So, I added him as a friend on facebook and asked him if he would be willing to give me a ride and he said.....SURE!!! I was so stoked! The minute I found out I called my dad and told him the good news.

So, on the morning of November 21st he picked me up, along with 2 other people that are from Snoqualmie, WA, around 6:00 am and we drove for a long time. We only stopped 3 times and that was only to get gas. The weather wasn't too bad. I don't think there was any snow on the road the whole way there. Then, we got in Lake Stevens around 5:00 and I wasn't supposed to go over to my house until my mom was getting ready to leave. So, I went over to my neighbor Kanani's house and hung out with them for a while. Then, when 6:00 rolled around Tanya came and picked me up and we went to pick my mom up together. They were going to go to dinner and a movie and I was going to tag along with them. Then, when I walked in the door my mom was surprised. I wish I had a picture of her expression. It was priceless! It was such a good surprise!!

Child Development

The other day I was studying for my Child Development quiz with my friend Caroline and we came to this really funny part in our textbook. At least I thought it was funny...I don't really know if you will find it funny or not.

This is a recipe that a child wrote for a Turkey.

INGREDIENTS:
- 1 big bag full of whole turkey (get the kind with no feather, not the kind the pilgrims ate.
- a giant lump of stuffin'
- 1 squash pie
- 1 mint pie
- 2 little fancy dish of sour berries
- 1 big fancy dish of vegetable mix
- 20 dishes of all different kinds of candies; chocolate balls, cherry balls, good n' plenties, and peanuts

DIRECTIONS:
1) get up when the alarm says to and get busy fast. Unfold the turkey and open up the holes. Push in the stuffin' for a couple of hours. I think you get stuffin' from the farm that makes it.

2) I know you have to pin the stuffin' to the turkey or I suppose it would get out. And get special pins or use big long nails.

3) Get the kitchen real hot, and from then on just cook turkey. Sometimes you can call it a bird, but it's not.

4) Then you put the vegetables in the cooker-and first put one on top, and next put one on the bottom, and then one in the middle. That makes a vegetable mix. Put two red things of salt all in it and two red things of water too. Cook them to just 1/2 warm.

5) Put candies all around the place and Linda will bring over the pies.

6) When the company come put on your red apron.

I just thought this was really funny and it kinda fits this month...it being November and almost Thanksgiving and everything.

my roommates

I thought I should probably tell you a little bit about my roommates. 4 out of my 5 roommates are great. I just can't stand one of them. I guess we will get to that point when we get to it...

Deborah
She is great. She's 24 but she is amazing!! Since I've been having issues with this other roommate she comes into my room at night and talks to me and she just likes to listen. She also has some of the same problems with this roommate as I do so she just talks to me. One night when I was really having issues she took me out and we hung out with some of her friends and played games and stuff. SO MUCH FUN!!! I just love her.

Devri
She is great too! She's just so easy to talk to. She's from Arco, Idaho so I've gone to some of her sister's volley ball games. Her parents are great too! It's fun to just go driving with her and just talk. Last night we went to a volleyball game and on the way home I got to know a lot more about her and she's just a great person.

Ashley
She is okay...I mean she's really nice but when she's with the roommate that I have issues with she gets really annoying. But other than that she's really nice. She'll talk to me about my day and we'll just talk.

Nicole
She's SO funny! I love her! I love talking to her...without this other roommate. I think this other roommate just causes all of the problems.

Alicia
Now here's the roommate that DRIVES ME INSANE!!!! She wakes me up every night because she likes to hear her own voice. She's very selfish. She isn't considerate (of me at least). Last night I was asleep in bed and here's what she did:
1) she came in and turned on the light and searched for PJs (loudly I might add)
2) Then, she left the door open (people were being loud in the hallway)
3) Then, she came back in with carrots and started eating them in her bed (did I mention we share a room?)
4) Then, when she finally went to bed, I was completely awake and it took a lot longer for me to fall asleep.

I'm SO sick of this!! I don't know if I can stand it any longer!!! AHHHHHHHH!

FHE and Wingers

Today I went to school as usual. BLAH! But the fun thing about today was Family Home Evening. We went to the church at 7:00 and we got more ice cream...lol. (see my ice cream extravaganza post). We also got to meet our Family Home Evening group. There are 12 girls in our group and 6 guys...Considering that there are 120 girls and 60 guys in our ward that makes sense...
Anyways, after FHE me and my roommates went to Wingers. It was SO much fun! We got chicken...of course and we just talked and had a lot of fun. It was funny because Ashley (one of my roommates) thought that the waiter was really cute. So...she left her number on a napkin. Nothing will probably ever come of it but we thought it was really funny.

Our Ice cream Extravaganza

On Sunday September 13th my roommates and I had to get up pretty early because we had an interview with the bishop at 10:15. So, we drove up to the interview and then when we were all done we drove back again and we just hung out and talked for awhile until church started (church started at 1:30 pm). Church was pretty good but the seats for Sacrament Meeting are highly uncomfortable. But that's okay...I guess.

Then we got home and we were all craving ice cream for whatever reason. Unfortunately, it was Sunday so we couldn't just go out and buy some. So...we asked Deborah to call all of her friends from BYU-Idaho. She's 24 so she's been around awhile and she knows a lot of people. So she called a bunch of people and then she called her friend Donald. HE HAD SOME!! So he said he would bring it over.

While we were waiting for him though we still really wanted ice cream so we yelled out of the window to the guys apartments that are behind us. They always have their doors open so they could hear us. We yelled, "HEY!" out the window and two guys came out. We asked them if they had any ice cream and they said that if we had ice they could make us some ice cream. We only had 2 trays of ice though so we didn't have enough to make a whole thing of ice cream. So we just talked to them for awhile through the window and then Donald came so we ate that ice cream.

Then, while we were eating the ice cream, the other guys (the ones we had yelled at through the window) were coming around and collecting ice for us. We saw that they were coming to our door and we didn't know what to do. So we were all freaking out because we didn't want them to know that we had gotten ice cream. Alicia was freaking out. She threw the ice cream behind the trash can and we fixed that and put it in the freezer. Then the guys came over and they were like, "we are collecting ice to make ice cream. Are you guys the ones that wanted ice cream?" And we told them that we were. So, they told us to come over to their apartment in about 1 hour.

While we were waiting for that hour to be over we invited some other guys over that we had met the other day. We played Uno and talked for a little while. Then, the hour was up and we all went over to the guys apartment to eat ice cream. It was DELICIOUS!! After that we went over to Devri's (one of my roommates) brother's apartments and we talked with them for awhile and then we came back to our apartment and watched a movie. It was SO much fun! I had a blast!

Mormon Prom

On a Saturday in April we had Mormon Prom. Up until 3 days before it actually happened I wasn't actually planning on going. However, then Zack Isaacson came up to me during youth group, gave me flowers and asked me to go with him. Of course I said yes. What was I supposed to say?? lol. Anyways, we went on a double date with Samantha and her date, Patrick. For dinner we went to P.F. Changs (a really good Chinese restaurant). I got sweet and sour chicken and I actually tried sushi. I couldn't believe that I actually put that in my mouth. It wasn't that bad but it also wasn't that good. I definitely wouldn't buy it with my money.

After dinner we went to the dance. It was in Issaquah at a really nice location. It was decorated with lights all over the place. We danced and had a good time for a little while. However, then Patrick started not feeling well so we had to leave a little early. It was okay though. We wanted him to go home and be able to sleep. So he took us to Samantha's house (where I was spending the night) and we said good bye there. It was a really fun night. Then when Samantha and I went inside we talked to her mom for a little while and then we got ready for bed and stayed up pretty late/early Sunday morning talking. Unfortunately we have 9 o'clock church and we got woken up at 7 o'clock by her dad calling to wake up her mom. Her dad is in the bishopric so he was already at church but he had to make sure his wife was up. So we were woken up pretty early but it's okay. I will add pictures as soon as they become available to me.... :)

Best of EFY

In the past couple weeks we have had a lot of church things going on. First I will briefly talk about Best of EFY. This was on a Saturday from about 3:00 pm until 11:00 pm. My friend Samantha picked me up around 2:30-ish and we headed to the Everett Stake Center. The first thing we did was register and find our seats. We had to save 1 1/2 rows for all of the people in our group. After we were all seated the program started. We first heard from one speaker (I can't remember her name). After the speaker we ate dinner and then listened to anothe speaker (I can't remember his name). Listening to the speakers was a very HUGE testimony builder. Throughout the whole week leading up to this activity I was not doing well. The only person I would talk to was my friend Samantha. Isn't it amazing how sometimes the speakers can seem to be speaking directly to you? One of the speakers said that when he was out in the hall he said a quick prayer and he had a strong feeling that someone in this room really needed to hear was he was about to say. When he said this I started to get teary-eyed because I felt he was talking about me. The subjects of both talks related to the problems that I've been having all week and it was really nice to hear it from them. I almost didn't go because I wasn't feeling well but I'm really glad that I did.

When the talks were all done Samantha turned to me and said "Wow, I can't believe how much those talks related to you." After the talks were done there was a dance. It was okay but I was so tired by that point. Unfortunately I couldn't leave because Samantha was my ride and she wanted to stay. However, luckily she decided to go home early so she could watch a movie at her house. I was very greatful for that. I didn't really hang out with Samantha at the dance because she is very different when she is around her "boyfriends" and she's just not enjoyable to be around so I hung out with my friends Jacqueline, Eva, Courtney and Mariah. It was still really fun though! I had a good time but I'm glad that we came home early so I could sleep.

My Culminating Exhibition

At my high school we are required to complete and pass a Culminating Exhibition (CE) to graduate. I have been preparing for this for a long time. It has to be 15 minutes long and we have to talk about three different questions "Who am I", "Where am I going", and "How am I going to get there?" I created a powerpoint about these three questions. It was 26 slides long. Anyways, I presented mine today. I was really nervous and stressed out this morning. You can ask my mom. I was bitter and annoyed at EVERYTHING.

When I got there I put on my powerpoint and I started the presentation. Then when I got to the second slide a movie of me playing the piano was supposed to play. However, it didn't play and I didn't know why. One of the teachers said it's because I forgot to save it on my flash drive. I KNEW I FORGOT SOMETHING! Anyways, after this little glitch I started to really worry. What if the rest of presentation was as bad as this. However, I basically overlooked this little problem and continued on with my presentation and the rest of it went surprisingly smooth.

At the end the panel of teachers had the opportunity to comment and ask questions. One of the teachers said that they appreciated how organized my binder was (I organized it into like 8 sections). One of the teachers also said how they liked that I just continued with my presentation. They said that it was good how I just overlooked my technical difficulty at the beginning and moved right on through. They said that was something a teacher has to do often. That made me feel good that although I had an issue at the beginning they found a compliment for it.

I really thought I wasn't go to do very well and I was afraid that I wasn't going to pass. BUT I PASSED!! Now I am done with all of my high school requirement! YAY!!!

Tolo

This year Tolo was on March 14th, 2009. Tolo is like Sadies or Preference (aka Girls Choice). So, me and my friend Samantha got a group of people together and we planned the whole thing. Our group was as follows:

Samantha and Barry
Shay and Ethan
Me and Zack Isaacson

The first thing that we did was go to Funtasia. Funtasia is an arcade place with video games, bumper cars, lazer tag, mini golf and other things. The first thing we did when we got there was go and play mini golf. It was really fun. We didn't keep score, so we don't know who won. After mini golf it started to rain so we went inside to play lazer tag. We played girls vs. guys and the guys won. After lazer tag we went out side and raced cars. That was fun too except it was really, really cold outside. After we did all of this we got quarters out of the machine and played arcade games. We split up as couples and decided that whoever got the most tickets would win (we didn't have a prize though). Shay's team won that. I think she had two times as many tickets as me and Zack did.

We left Funtasia around 5:30 (we got there around 3) and we headed back to my house. At my house we made pizzas as teams and we played Mau (a card game). After we were done making and eating our pizzas we talked for a little while and then we headed down to Samantha's house.

When we got to Samantha's house we played Rock Band (a Wii game) and just hung out for awhile. Then we had banana splits for dessert. After dessert we went back into their family room and just talked and watched funny YouTube videos (You should really check out "David After Dentist" on YouTube). It was really fun. After we watched a couple videos Shay and Ethan left but Samantha, Barry, Me, and Zack stayed to hang out for awhile. We thought we would leave around 10 or something. However, we just kept talking and lost track of time. The guys didn't end up leaving until about 12:10 and after we said good-bye to them I went back into Samantha's house to talk for a little while. I don't think I left her house until 12:30 or 12:45.

The date was WAY fun...and it lasted 10 hours. We couldn't believe that it last so long but it really didn't feel like it.

Date night!

Yesterday, January 31st, 2009 I went on a date with Zack Isaacson along with my friend Samantha and her date Ian DuPape.

Well...it's actually kinda funny how this even started so I will start from the beginning. So...Samantha and I have been hanging out every Saturday (we are very sad that we will be missing two Saturdays while I'm in utah...haha). Anyways, we planned to have a movie night yesterday. Then Samantha got asked out on a date so she was planning on coming over but then, randomly, she asked me if I would ever go on a date with a guy in our ward named Derrick. I told her "probably not". Then she texted me back and said..."okay. Who would you go on a date with?" I gave her two ideas (Barry West and Zack Isaacson). So then she said..."okay..." and that's all I heard from her for awhile. Then I was getting anxious and I'm like..."what are you gonna do". And she said three simple words "work some magic". So, I didn't know who I was going with (although I had some idea), what we were doing or where we were going.

Then, like a day or two before the date she finally told me who I was going with (Zack Isaacson) and then we decided that she should come over and hang out for a little while before the date so she came over and we just talked for like four hours. It was crazy. haha. Then we went downstairs about 15 minutes before they were supposed to get to my house and talked to my mom for a couple minutes. The first thing she said when we got down there was that she didn't want any "hanky, panky". Okay....right.................we had no idea what that meant. However, she told us and I think we kinda wish we still didn't know. She said she was going to say that to the guys too...and guess what....SHE DID!!! However, she didn't tell them what it meant. They kept bugging us about it the whole date...they wanted to know what it mean. They finally kinda figured it out today when they went and asked my mom again but she didn't tell them whatshe told us which made us happy.

Anyways, when we finally left on the date we first headed to the Everett Mall. There we ate Panda Express and just talked for awhile. While we were sitting there we saw our friend Shay Frenzel walk by with her boyfriend. Ian threw a paper towel at him and it almost hit him but he didn't even notice. It was really funny.

After we were done with Panda Express we wandered around the mall because we had awhile until the movie started. We went into different stores and got gum balls from different machines. It was fun. When we went into Bath and Body we were talking about how much money we have and Samantha said "I have 25". The lady that was working there said, "You have 25 what? Boys?" And we all started laughing. However, as Samantha was laughing she wasn't paying attention to where she was going and she ran over a little kid. He was probably 4 or 5. She felt So bad afterwards.

So, after running over children and walking around the mall we headed to the movie theater and we saw Paul Blart: Mall Cop. It was actually really funny! When the movie was over we went to Cold Stone and got ice cream. After we got ice cream we went to the lake and just hung out for awhile. It was really fun!! I got home around midnight and then Samantha started texting me and then I talked to my friend on the facebook until about 1. I didn't end up falling asleep until 1:30 or 2 and we have to be at church at 9:00 in the morning. I didn't get much sleep but it was still WAY fun!!!!

My birthday party!!

On January 13th I turned 18. However, my party wasn't on the 13th it was on the 16th of January. I invited about 30 people to my party...it was held at my house. They were each given a character and told to dress up as the character. Then when they got they hung out for a little while and when everyone arrived we made an announcement...a murder has been committed. Then everyone was given an envelope with three different words (place, person, or thing). Then, like the board game...kinda, they had to sneak around and find out what pieces each group had and try to solve the mystery first. I don't remember who solved it but they figured out that the chauffeur committed the murder...and i also don't remember what weapon was used or what room it was committed in.

Then, they talked and ate for a little while. Then, my friend got a mysterious phone call from someone saying that the chauffeur was now dead. Then, they were given a new set of envelopes and clues. This one took a lot longer. I think one of the problems with this part was that a lot of people kept there old clues to trick people with. But it was still really fun. After someone finally solved the mystery we talked for a little while and then opened presents. I got a ton of money a couple DVDs (Enchanted and Music and Lyrics) and some other random candy and stuff. After presents we had cake and just hung out until 10:00 pm. yeah....it was really, really fun!!!

College update

Well, as I promised I will keep you updated on my college decision. Well, as you already know I've been accepted to NAU and UP. However, I have now crossed those ones off of my list because I have received another college acceptance as well. I have been accepted to BYU-Idaho. Currently this is my top school but if I get into Provo I will definitely be going there. Well, again, I will let you know if I get into Provo or not. Keep your fingers crosses that I do!

A Long Day!

Today, Friday, January 23rd was a really long day.

- 5:00 am~ This is the time that I usually wake up on a weekday because I have to get ready for seminary.

- 5:45 am~ Zach and I left for seminary at this time. We usually have to drive my dad to his van pool too so we leave a little earlier but today he was the one actually driving the van so we didn't have to drive him.

- 6:40 am~ Seminary starts at 6:00 and goes until about 6:40. In seminary our teacher makes the students teach once every 2 months. I had to teach on Tuesday and Nelson taught us today. He taught about the Savior's death.

- 7:45 am~ This is the time that I got to work. I'm not even supposed to be at work until 9:00 am and I can't even get into the building until then. So, I just sat out in my car and did homework. The only reason I got there so early was because I think it's pointless to go home and then have to leave again almost immediately and I didn't know how the traffic would be.

- 2:00 pm~ I got off work at this time. I usually get off work at 4:00 but she ran out of things for me to do today. I basically just made copies of various things. It was really boring. The plus side is I get $15 an hour.

2:30 pm~ I went to the mall. I hadn't eaten lunch so I got something to eat at A&W in the Food Court and then I went shopping. However, there isn't much you can buy with only $20. I ended up going to Bath and Body and I bought a lip gloss.

4:00 pm~ I went to my friend Andrew's house. I watched them (my friends Kristen, Andrew, Emmett, Casey, and Gretchen) play frisbee for a little while. I would've played too but I was in heels because I forgot to bring a change of shoes. Then we walked back to his house and made dinner. We had spaghetti, salad, green beans and bread. If Andrew is reading this he would probably say that we watched him cook dinner but what can you really do to help prepare spaghetti. You just put noodles in a pot and watch them boil...I did open a can of green beans though. Anyways.......the dinner was really yummy. Gretchen made a pie for dessert that was also really good.

6:45 pm~ We left Andrews house to go to a play at Everett High School. We all had to follow Andrew there because we had no idea how to get there. We followed in this order (Andrew, me, Kristen, Gretchen). At one point a car got in between me and Andrew so he pulled over into the shoulder. However, it was a very large shoulder and I thought it was a turning lane so I got over too and then Kristen got over and then Gretchen. Then we had to get back over into traffic. I'm sure the other cars thought we were idiots. haha. We all laughed really hard about that one.

9:15 pm~ The play ended at 9:15. It was really good. The reason we went was because an ORCA kid (Le Button) wrote it. He also directed it and wrote the music and played the music during the play. He's a very talented person. I got home at about 9:30 and watched TV for an hour before I went into bed. It was a very long day. I was gone for 15 hours but it was really fun too!
